Mass Effect Andromeda Remnant Decryption Puzzle Solutions (2024)

Mass Effect Andromeda Remnant Decryption Puzzle Solutions (1)

There are many Mass Effect Andromeda Remnant Decryption Puzzles that you can find throughout the campaign of the videogame developed by BioWare for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Some of the Glyph Puzzles are mandatory for progression of the story, while others are completely optional.

However, we suggest to find and solve all of them, because of the missable Cryptographer achievement/trophy – which is unlocked by solving 20 Remnant Puzzles in a single playthrough.

These puzzles are required to activate some of the consoles found in Remnant Vaults or at Alien Monoliths. If you fail to input the correct combination, then you are attacked by a wave of Remnant enemies.

How to Solve a Mass Effect Andromeda Remnant Decryption Puzzle

A Mass Effect Andromeda Remnant Decryption Puzzleis a mini-game similar to Sudoku. Your goal is to assign the available glyphs to the grid. E.g., if there are four rows, then it means there are four distinct glyphs (later in the game you will encounter more complicate puzzles).

Each row and column must include all glyphs for that console, without repeating them. The same is valid for the sub-grids which are highlighted shapes delimited by an outline – no duplicates are allowed in one quadrant.

Sometimes, glyphs are missing from the puzzle, but they are easy to find, since they are in the vicinity of the console. Activate the scanner and follow the hidden wires that start from the console.

The wires usually end where the glyph panels are located. Scan them, and when SAM tells you that you have enough glyphs you can return to the console.

To lower the difficulty of a Mass Effect Andromeda Remnant Decryption Puzzle, start with the rows/columns that are missing only one glyph, thus filling the slots with the obvious solution. Alternatively, complete the sub-grid that is short one glyph.

Then work your way to rows/columns/regions that are missing two glyphs. If two or more glyphs are potential candidates for a slot, move to another region until you find the correct solution.

You can override the decryption by using Remnant Decryption Keys, which can be found in containers. However, these are ultra rare and they don’t allow you to bypass all the puzzles found in the singleplayer.

Therefore, in the following Mass Effect Andromeda Remnant Decryption Puzzle Guide you will find screenshots with the correct solutions for all the puzzles in the game, and if needed, some additional clues.

The guide is organized by planets, although this isn’t the order in which you’ll find the Remnant puzzles during your playthrough, so we will also include the related quests (for example, there are quite a few puzzles on Eos, but you can’t explore the entire planet from the very start due to radiation hazard).

Last, but not least, if you’re having trouble locating the vaults or consoles use the video walkthrough from our YouTube playlist.

Note: During our playthrough we managed to find all 22 Remnant Decryption Puzzles, which are enough to get the achievement/trophy even if you skip a couple of them.

Eos Remnant Decryption Puzzles

Eos Monolith – A Better Beginning

The first Remnant Decryption Puzzle is quest related and cannot be missed. You will find it at the second Remnant Monolith during the A Better Beginning main mission. The glyphs can be scanned on the towers surrounding the console.

[MISSABLE] Eos Remnant Vault – A Better Beginning

Near the end of the same main quest mentioned above you have to enter a Remnant Vault. There is one optional Mass Effect Andromeda Remnant Decryption Puzzle in the vault, but it’s well hidden and totally missable!

On the second floor of the vault you will reach a huge cavern with large plants. Use the console to make a path to the middle platform with the large plant, then toggle another console to reach the left side of the area (south-west).

Battle through a few Remnant enemies, then interact with the only console available here. Backtrack to the platform with the plant to reach the right side of the cavern – now to your left.

While facing the objective (that is at approximately 50m distance, behind another large plant), turn around and check the ledge above you to find a hidden console. This opens a path to a secret section to the south.

From this point, it should be smooth sailing, just follow the newly raised pillars – but be aware of the enemies that wait for you on the other side.

In the room with the large plant in the center is a locked container that can only be opened by solving a Remnant puzzle. Scan the two glyphs that are on the walls of the room, then use the solution in the screenshot below.

Note that at the time of writing the guide, the map for Floor 2 is a bit broken, meaning your position is always shown above the actual location; our markers provide the real location since we are confident this will be solved through a patch.

Eos – Task: The Ghost of Promise

Once the radiation level on Eos is cleared, you can return to find two more Remnant Decryption Puzzles. One of them can be found in the vault that is related to the task The Ghost of Promise – free roam works too.

Use the gravity well, then access the console on the upper platform to unlock a secret room with a Destroyer enemy. In the same room, there is a locked container. Decrypt it using the solution in the screenshot, since no additional glyphs are required.

Eos – Task: Data Trail

After finding three Remnant data cores, follow the navpoint to a hidden vault (or just go to it in free roam). The locked chest on the raised platform requires four glyphs which are scattered in the rooms of the vault.

The first glyph is on the wall behind the container. The second one is in the same room, on the side of the pillar that’s opposite from the platform.

Traverse the corridor to reach the second room of the vault. After the kett are dead, inspect the four hexagonal pillars protruding from the holes in the floor. The glyph is on the left pillar that’s closest to the entrance, but it faces the center of the room.

The final glyph is in the next room, just before the dead end. Scan the wall on the right side of the Adaptive Remnant Core Device that’s in the middle of the room to find it.

[MISSABLE] Havarl Remnant Vault – A Dying Planet

In the main room of the vault there are two Remnant consoles. Before using the main console for purifying the atmosphere and lose access forever, solve the decryption puzzle on the second one – it lowers a force field in the previous room to reveal a container, beneath the raised platform.

[SECRET] Havarl – Fusion Mod of Adrenaline

This Mass Effect Andromeda Remnant Decryption Puzzle is probably the easiest to overlook in the entire game, simply because of its hidden location.

While exploring Havarl, go to the location marked on our map below to find a Remnant console in a tiny cave – the console is there only after you complete the side mission A Dying Planet and you read Addison’s email in the Tempest.

Activate the console, then follow the yellow wires in the ground to a Remnant structure/pillar which now features some climbable platforms on its side.

At the top of the pillar you can find another console. Interact with it to unlock a gravity well on a similar pillar not too far from your current position – the white line points you in the right direction, left if you’re facing the console.

Scale the pillar using the side platforms and use the gravity well to be transported across Havarl to the last console. Interface with the console to bring up the Remnant Puzzle.

Solve it using the solution in the screenshot, then take the gravity well to a hidden room with a chest in which you’ll find the unique Fusion Mod of Adrenaline.

Voeld North Monolith – Restoring a World

Four Remnant Decryption Puzzles are tied to this quest, with one being completely missable. The first three are on the surface of the planet and require additional glyphs for decryption.

For the Remnant Puzzle at the North Monolith you need three glyphs. Two of them can be scanned on the pillars above the console, and the third is on a platform protruding from the mountain.

Voeld West Monolith – Restoring a World

The West Monolith is inside a cave. Follow the conduit to find a glyph on a stone block behind a pillar. Two more are on top of another pillar.

Voeld South Monolith – Restoring a World

As before, three glyphs are also required for the Remnant Puzzle at the South Monolith. One is on a small stone block in the back of the cave, but for the other two you have to reach the surface. Both of them are on a triangle-shaped block behind the giant monolith.

[MISSABLE] Voeld Remnant Vault – Restoring a World

After you activate all 3 Monoliths you have to enter the Remnant Vault. There is an optional room in the main vault chamber, on the right side of the area. Inside the room there is a console with a Mass Effect Andromeda Remnant Decryption Puzzle.

However, this puzzle becomes unavailable after completing the vault. And be aware that you only have one chance to solve the puzzle, so make sure you double-check our solution! You get 2 extra skill points for solving the puzzle.

Voeld – Task: Subjugation

While exploring Voeld you could come across a Vault that’s hidden behind a hill – or you can find it by pursuing the additional task Subjugation, which then transforms into a side mission.

There is a locked container in one of the chambers on the far end of the Vault. To solve the Remnant Decryption Puzzle, scan the two glyphs that are on the walls of the chamber.

Kadara Remnant Decryption Puzzles

Kadara Monolith – Healing Kadara’s Heart

Although there are three Remnant Monoliths that have to be activated in this quest, only the one on the east side of the map features a Remnant Decryption Puzzle.

Three glyphs must be scanned on the surrounding pillars in order to interact with the console: one is at the bottom of a pillar, another behind a pillar, and the last one on top of the remaining pillar.

[MISSABLE] Kadara Remnant Vault – Healing Kadara’s Heart

As with most of the Puzzles in the Vaults, this one is also missable once you activate the vault. You can find it in an optional room that’s in the opposite direction from the main chamber with the purification field.

The room is easy to find, just head left from the main platform in the center of the vault. Interact with the console outside, then defeat the Remnant enemies guarding the room.

When the coast is clear, jump on the middle block/structure to find the Remnant Console. No glyphs are required for this puzzle, so enter the solution provided by us to get 2 skill points.

Elaaden Remnant Decryption Puzzles

Elaaden Monolith – Taming a Desert

The first Remnant Decryption Puzzle on the planet can be found at the northernmost Monolith as part of the quest related to the vault, it can’t be missed.

Before using the Remnant Console, you have to scan for three glyphs, which are easy to find, since all three are on top of the alien pillars.

[MISSABLE] Elaaden Remnant Vault – Taming a Desert

There is an entire optional area in the Elaaden vault, on the north-east side of the map, where you can find a console on top of a raised platform.

You don’t have to scan any glyphs for the Remnant Puzzle and you unlock 2 skill points once you solve it, but as before, make sure you interact with the console before locking yourself out of the vault by activating the purification field.

Also note that this puzzle cannot be overridden with a Decryption Key, so pay attention when you input the solution.

Elaaden Derelict Ship – Investigate the Remnant Derelict

During the mission Investigate the Remnant Derelict you have to infiltrate a Remnant derelict ship. At some point, you have to use a Remnant Console with a Decryption Puzzle.

Only one glyph is needed for the puzzle, which can be scanned on a column in the same room – just use the scanner and follow the conduit from the console.

Elaaden – Task: Cache Flow

At the end of the task Cache Flow you have to visit a Remnant Vault. If you can’t find the random Remnant devices needed for the mission, you can go to the point marked on our map and enter the vault immediately.

Inside the corridor that connects the two chambers of the vault there is a container locked by a Remnant Decryption Puzzle. No glyphs are needed for this puzzle, so simply input the correct solution provided below.

[SECRET] Elaaden – Free Roam

While free roaming on Elaaden you can come across a bonus vault can be found in the south-west part of the map – directly west from the southernmost Monolith.

The central area of the vault is connected with three rooms, think of them as northern, eastern, and western rooms (the radar at the top of the screen reinforces that).

The eastern room has a container locked behind a Remnant Puzzle. You can find two glyphs inside the same room, one at the entrance and one on the wall to your right-hand side.

At this time, the vault is a bit glitchy, because all the doors can be opened freely. If that’s not the case for you, then you must solve a platforming puzzle in the northern room before you can access the eastern one.

H-047c Remnant Decryption Puzzle

H-047c Remnant Vault – The Remnant Tiller

Follow the mission From the Dust and you will automatically unlock the mission The Remnant Tiller – you start this questline by interacting with the datapad inside the orange dome near the Tempest landing zone.

The console at the end of the vault, which is also your main objective in the mission, requires the decryption of a Remnant Puzzle. Solve the puzzle using the provided solution to complete the mission.

Khi Tasira Remnant Decryption Puzzle

[MISSABLE] Khi Tasira City – The Journey to Meridian

Only one Remnant Decryption Puzzle can be found during the mission The Journey to Meridian that takes place in Khi Tasira – which is also the final glyph puzzle in Mass Effect Andromeda.

However, it can be hard to find due to the intricate level design, so we suggest to use the location we marked on the map as a reference point.

When the mission starts, you have to use a gravity well. Then your objective is to access two towers, one at the north end, and the other to the south. Head to the south tower by taking the path on the right.

At the marked location jump down to the protruding structure beneath the main platform. You are now standing above a hidden room whose door is locked by a puzzle.

The puzzle is quite difficult to solve, so use our solution in the screenshot below. In the hidden room, you find two rare Remnant containers and a strange pod that can be scanned for XP.

To get back up, jump on the roof of the room, then across the chasm to another similar platform/room – the bridge between them is broken.
